Montana's Eagle Experience

Things to do in Noxon
“Of all the memorable views, the best have been framed by Montana windows.”  – William Hjortsberg, author

Northwestern Montana is one of the most beautiful places in our country to visit. Here in Noxon where we’re located, you will feel as if you have driven into a postcard. Crossing the one lane bridge hanging over the Clark Fork River you’ll be tempted to stop halfway to take in the view. Surrounded on both sides by mountains with towering trees, the river hosts both Osprey that nest on the bridge each year and Bald Eagles in the trees searching for their next meal.

In town, stop for supplies at The Angry Beaver Grocery Store where you can also order fabulous sandwiches and sample the soup of the day. Don’t forget their homemade pies and camping supplies! Check out Toby’s if you’d like to stop for a beer, and Johnson’s Hardware for just about anything you may need. The town park has restroom facilities and camping along the river, first come, first served (see the folks at the Angry Beaver about camping).

If you’re planning an overnight or two, Aitken’s Motel and Quik Stop (406-847-2191) in Noxon, is not only a Convenience store and car wash, but they have motel rooms available. The Lakeside Motel and Resort in nearby Trout Creek is also a place to consider, especially if you want to try the BEST huckleberry shakes and shop for great gifts from Montana. A little further away (40 minutes) in Thompson Falls there are many options including The Falls Motel, The Riverfront Motel and Cabins and the Rimrock Lodge. There are also many choices for lodging through Airbnb and VRBO.

A visit to NW Montana should also include:

We are just 35 minutes from the Idaho border, and 60 minutes from Sandpoint, where shops, views and restaurants await.
